QQI Level 5 Major Healthcare Support Award 5M4339
The purpose of the QQI Level 5 Major Healthcare Support Award is to enable the Learner to acquire the knowledge, skill, and competence to work under supervision in providing support in a variety of Healthcare settings and/or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.
How is it delivered?

Online Learning through Zoom with your Tutor live on-screen guiding you through the material.

You will also complete flexible part-time study from your own home. Dates and times of each award will be clearly advertised monthly on our website.
What QQI award do I receive?

On successful completion of the following 8 awards, you will obtain a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support – 5M4339.

In order to work as a Healthcare Assistant in home care, you must complete Care of the Older Person and Care Skills

Once you commence your QQI awards, there is no time limit to completing all 8 modules to achieve your Major Award

You will achieve a component certificate for individual award completed
On completion when will I receive my QQI certificate?

On completion of your course, you are given 3 weeks to complete and submit your portfolio. Following this, the following internal processes will occur:

Your portfolio will be received and corrected by your tutor.

Your portfolio will then be internally verified by Healthcare Training Solutions College of Further Education’s Quality Assurance Team.

Your portfolio will be cross moderated by Healthcare Training Solutions College of Further Education’s Quality Assurance Team.

Your portfolio will then be externally authenticated by a QQI registered authenticator.

On completion of these processes, we will submit your results to QQI for certification. You will receive a Provisional Result from your tutor in the meantime.

Please be aware that there are only a select few certification periods every year, as per the schedule set out by QQI, meaning it may take up to 5 months to receive your certificate following the submission of your portfolio.
Does HCTS cover insurance?

Yes, Learner work placement Insurance is covered at no extra cost.

How long is the duration of the course?

Each module takes place over a period of 4 weeks – 1 day a week for 4 hours.

Learners can learn at their own pace – enroling and completing each award when suitable to their needs and lifestyle.

We expect 100% attendance in each award. If this may not be possible due to an emergency, please contact the office for assistance.
Can I apply for Garda Vetting?

Garda Vetting is also provided via email at no extra cost.
Do I need an Irish PPSN?
-
To gain any QQI Certificate, Learners must have an Irish PPS number.
Work Placement Requirements
-
If you are not currently working in healthcare, you will be required to complete Work Placement in a Healthcare Facility.
-
Work Experience requirement is a minimum 80 hours and a maximum of up 160 hours.

Work Placement must be sourced by you.

You will require Garda Vetting which we will process for you. Please email [email protected] and request this form.

You will require our Letter of Insurance cover. Please email [email protected] and request this.

If you are working in a healthcare facility, you do not need to source work placement.

You can complete required assessments in your current healthcare position
Required documentation will be available to you for download with all other course materials 3 days prior to your course commencing.
